Duration 12 months. Start date is 7.1.2026

Salesforce Solutions Architect serves as a senior-level technical resource responsible for Salesforce architecture guidance, solution governance, security review, integration alignment, data governance, and enterprise modernization support across the company.
This position requires deep hands-on expertise across Salesforce GovCloud, Salesforce platform architecture, Experience Cloud, Public Sector Solutions, Apex, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce Flow, data modeling, sharing and visibility, DevOps, integrations, and enterprise data platforms. The consultant will operate as a strategic partner and technical authority, collaborating extensively with Enterprise Architecture, Application Development, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Database Administration, Integration, Product, and Production Support teams to ensure Salesforce solutions align with agency mission, security standards, compliance needs, and long-term platform sustainability.
The selected candidate will help the Enterprise Architecture team review solution designs, identify technical risks, recommend scalable patterns, prevent technical debt, and support complex initiatives such as Salesforce GovCloud implementation, Public Sector Solutions licensing impacts, data masking, Data 360 / Data Cloud planning, and cross-application dependency management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Salesforce Architecture, Platform Governance & Solution Design (40%)
1. Provide Salesforce architecture guidance for applications built on Salesforce GovCloud and related Salesforce platform capabilities.
2. Guide teams on the appropriate use of standard Salesforce objects, custom objects, shared objects, record types, permission sets, profiles, sharing rules, Salesforce Flow, Apex, Lightning Web Components, validation rules, custom metadata, custom settings, APIs, and Experience Cloud.
3. Review and recommend technical designs for new Salesforce applications, enhancements, integrations, automations, data flows, and cross-application dependencies.
4. Evaluate whether proposed solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, supportable, and aligned with Department enterprise standards.
5. Help prevent unnecessary object proliferation and promote reuse of common enterprise objects, shared services, reusable patterns, and standard architecture practices.
6. Support technical decision-making around common Salesforce data structures such as Account, Contact, Account Contact Relationship, provider relationships, individual records, assessments, files, county board relationships, cases, and related data models.
7. Provide architecture support for modernization and transition initiatives, including OhioISP wind-down, Individual Summary Profile / ISP transition planning, assessment access, provider access, guardian/individual access, and dependent application impacts.
8. Document architecture decisions, diagrams, risks, dependencies, assumptions, tradeoffs, and recommendations in a leadership-friendly format.
Cross-Team Collaboration, Technical Leadership & Delivery Support (25%)
9. Participate in architecture reviews, refinement sessions, sprint planning, technical design discussions, production support discussions, and release readiness reviews.
10. Partner with Application Development, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Database Administration, Integration, Help Desk, Product, and Production Support teams to align Salesforce solutions with enterprise architecture direction.
11. Provide recommendations around DevOps, deployment sequencing, sandbox strategy, release management, regression testing, and post-deployment validation.
12. Support code review guidance for Apex, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce Flow, integrations, configuration, and shared services.
13. Help evaluate performance risks including governor limits, DML limits, heap size, CPU time, record locking, sharing recalculation, data volume, asynchronous processing, and batch processing constraints.
14. Research upcoming Salesforce platform, security, licensing, and enterprise architecture changes and communicate opportunities and risks through the enterprise.
15. Provide technical mentorship and knowledge transfer to ITS staff and vendor teams; present architecture strategies, risks, and project updates to leadership.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Security, Access, Compliance & Risk Management (15%)
17. Review and recommend access models involving profiles, permission sets, permission set groups, sharing rules, role hierarchy, object permissions, field-level security, Experience Cloud users, delegated administration, and internal/external user access patterns.
18. Support design decisions around internal read-only access, external user access, guardian and individual access, provider access, reviewer access, and business-specific role-based access requirements.
19. Support security controls for sensitive data, including PII, PHI, CPI, provider data, individual data, assessment data, files, and other regulated information.
20. Review and advise on security-related changes to page layouts, object permissions, field-level security, record visibility, user administration, community access, and shared object exposure.
21. Support Salesforce security mandate readiness including MFA, IP restrictions, device activation, transaction security policies, DKIM verification, high-risk IP enforcement, and related platform security changes.
22. Identify security and compliance risks caused by shared objects, legacy access patterns, production support changes, page layout changes, or reintroduction of functionality previously removed for PII/PHI risk reasons.
Integration, Data Flow & Enterprise Data Architecture (10%)
23. Help teams design reliable upsert patterns using Salesforce IDs, external IDs, SQL identifiers, integration keys, and source-system identifiers.
24. Review data synchronization requirements to prevent duplicate records, stale records, mismatched source systems, unnecessary replication, and unclear source-of-truth ownership.
25. Support architecture decisions involving REST/SOAP APIs, MuleSoft APIs, batch processing, CDC, Platform Events, Event Streamer, event-driven architecture, integration monitoring, correlation IDs, and error handling.
26. Provide guidance on data movement across Salesforce and enterprise systems while balancing operational needs, reporting needs, performance, security, and maintainability.
27. Partner with production and integration teams to perform root cause analysis on complex issues, research solutions, and recommend corrective actions.
Data Governance, Data Masking, Data 360 & Platform Optimization (10%)
28. Work with business, technical, and security teams to identify fields that must be masked, partially masked, tokenized, conditionally visible, or protected in lower environments.
29. Support governance around production data usage in sandboxes, UAT, SIT, training, reporting, and testing environments.
30. Help identify which Salesforce and enterprise data sources should be evaluated for Data 360 / Data Cloud ingestion.
31. Support mapping of person, provider, assessment, county board, case, document, file, and relationship data for future harmonization and identity resolution.
32. Review data catalog outputs and help determine which tables, fields, and datasets are appropriate for ingestion, reporting, segmentation, activation, and calculated insights.
33. Help manage credit-conscious design decisions for Data 360 batch ingestion, streaming ingestion, unstructured data processing, queries, segmentation, and activations.
34. Review Public Sector Solutions, Experience Cloud, Customer Community Plus, and related licensing implications for internal and external users.
