Job Description:
Zone Maintenance Engineer
Rubicon is seeking a Zone Maintenance Engineer supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Geismar. This position will report to the Maintenance Superintendent.
Job Scope
The ZME is responsible for maintaining plant assets. The ZME directs the activities of all daily maintenance personnel (Rubicon & contract) in carrying out this function. The ZME interfaces with all departments on the plant site. The ZME is the primary technical and logistical resource for their respective zone.
In summary, as the Zone Maintenance Engineer, you will:
  • Works with OMC on all deviations and directives relating to maintenance activities
  • Prioritizes the reported rebuilds with the OMC
  • Identifies operational and maintenance improvements to cost effective solutions and improvements
  • Involved in the work order notification and prioritization process, including
    • Provides input as required to ensure work notifications and work orders meet the technical requirements of safety, reliability, and production
    • Provides technical expertise as required to ensure work prioritization meets maximize safety, reliability, and production needs
    • Provides technical input to rotating and fixed equipment plans to ensure quality and accuracy

  • Keep track and manage backlog in areas of responsibility.
    • Number of work orders, schedule attainment, critical work orders, and PMs due

  • Determines first pass root cause of unusual incidents relating to rotating equipment, process upsets
  • Working with Reliability group and OMC to make decisions on problem equipment
    • Specifying equipment for replacement or improvement
    • Assisting in determining how and whether to repair problem equipment

  • Complete necessary mechanical MOCs
  • Safety performance
  • Plan technical compliance, Continuous improvement projects
  • Job compliance

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Rubicon in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in Maintenance engineering

Skills and knowledge
  • Effective leadership skills which would include the ability to direct and supervise personnel.
  • Good communication skills both with subordinates and superiors, contractors, other departments, and material vendors.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks without difficulty.
  • Practical knowledge of chemical processes obtained through experience and technical education.
  • Practical knowledge of all aspects of mechanical process equipment.
  • Excellent cognitive skills which allow the individual to reason through complex problems.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of environmental and OSHA standards; toxicity and hazards of all chemicals within the operating and maintenance areas and safe handling procedures for all unit and non-unit chemicals.
  • Thorough knowledge of plant policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform in high stress situations.
  • Effective training and coaching skills.

Working Environment
The employee will, on occasion be required to Bend/Stoop, Climb, Reach above shoulder level and Kneel while reviewing work in the field.
The Employee will frequently be required to climb stairs and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. from floor to waist.
Employee will spend time: Standing 30%, Walking 40%, Sitting 30%.
