Job description

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Ensure strong collaboration and foster strong working relationships with various departments across the organization including, but not limited to Maintenance, I&E, Measurement, Engineering/Construction, ES&H, and PSM.

  • Demonstrate initiative, ownership, and accountability towards best-in-class operational performance with respect to safety, environmental, and reliability.

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Provide optimization, troubleshooting support, and coordination of vendor technical support for process equipment including, but not limited to thermal oxidizers, combustors, flares, and fired heaters.
  • Opportunity exists to expand scope of responsibility to include oversight of turboexpanders and refrigeration screw compression.
  • Prior instrumentation and controls experience with burner management systems (BMS) and process control systems implemented on industry-standard PLC platforms (Honeywell SLATE, Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, Siemens SIMATIC, etc.) is preferred.
  • Monitor equipment reliability, identify recurring failures modes, and recommend permanent solutions to resolve bad actor components and improve unit runtime.
  • Support best-in-class emission performance, including development and implementation of corrective action plans to resolve equipment downtime that directly impacts excess emission events.
  • Champion improvements to the frequency and job plan scope of scheduled equipment maintenance based on industry best practices and vendor-specific feedback.
  • Identify process control deficiencies for equipment and coordinate with Engineering and I&E/Automation teams to implement recommended improvements.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and I&E teams to promptly resolve urgent operational issues, prioritize work orders, and schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Provide technical and operational expertise for hazard and operability (HAZOP), process hazard analysis (PHA), and root cause analysis (RCA) studies.
  • Plan and support project execution and/or equipment maintenance during plant outages in coordination with Operations, I&E, Maintenance, and/or Engineering/Construction.
  • Be on-call to respond to equipment reliability issues when identified by Plant Operations Technicians on shift.
  • All other duties assigned.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver license required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Willingness to perform scheduled shift work at plant facilities, including 14/14 schedule on days.
  • Knowledge of midstream gas processing unit operations and equipment.
  • Knowledge of fired equipment, including thermal oxidizers, combustors, flares and fired heaters.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and the ability to troubleshoot issues associated with wiring, configuration, calibration, and/or electrical power (120 VAC and 24 VDC).
  • Knowledge of PLC control system functionality and instrumentation interfaces.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work and complete projects with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs to fulfill business objectives as needed.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions.
  • Able to work in close quarters: work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines: eye protection, footwear, 4-gas monitor, flame-resistant clothing).
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
