Head Bartender

Oveja Negra

Steamboat Springs, CO • On-site

$16 - $19/hr

Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

We're opening a cocktail bar and coffee shop in the heart of Steamboat Springs and are looking for an experienced Head Bartender to help shape the program before we open our doors. This is a ground-floor opportunity to leave your mark on a new concept — building the bar culture, systems, and standards from scratch alongside an owner who is invested in doing it right.

The Role

This is a working leadership position with real ownership over the bar program. You'll be hands-on behind the stick while also stepping into the operational and mentorship responsibilities that come with leading a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily bar operations and set the standard for speed, consistency, and hospitality
  • Develop and oversee the bar prep program
  • Build and maintain par levels and ordering structures
  • Onboard, train, and mentor bartenders at all experience levels
  • Contribute to a service culture that balances craft with genuine warmth

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of bartending experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role
  • Strong foundation in classic cocktails and an eye for seasonality and creativity
  • Experience with inventory management, par structures, or ordering preferred
  • A natural mentor — someone who raises the bar for the people around them
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for being part of something new and growing with the business

Compensation & Benefits

  • $16–$19/hr, DOE + tips
  • Housing subsidy available for the first year
  • Relocation assistance provided
  • Direct line to ownership with real input on the program
