Job description

The Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective operations of both inbound and outbound functions to ensure the attainment of optimal operational metrics and customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Management:

  • Manages the inbound/outbound operations, logistics and order fulfillment for an individual facility.
  • Ensures operational efficiency and adherence to company operational standards.
  • Implement and optimize operational processes to improve productivity, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Adhere to and execute against company SOPs.
  • Alert Regional Director to areas of opportunities and to resolve operational problems or deficiencies.
  • Utilize and optimize warehouse technologies (e.g., RF systems, PTL, robotics, and sortation systems) to improve productivity, throughput, and order accuracy.
  • Ensure staff adhere to operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ensure the facility operates in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain quality assurance programs to meet client expectations.
  • Address any non-compliance issues promptly and effectively.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as back up to Regional Director as key contact for partners when addressing operational concerns.
  • Collaborate with partners to understand their supply chain goals and recommend improvements.
  • Promotes total partner satisfaction and role models this expectation to all staff.

Financial Management:

  • In partnership with the Regional Director, meet financial targets (key metrics and benchmarks distribution & labor costs, meeting daily required percentage on billing against labor).
  • Adhere to facility budget and control expenses to achieve profitability.
  • Analyze key P&L, UPH, and other dashboard reports, to make informed decisions.
  • Maintain cost effective staffing requirements to meet operational needs while balanced with labor efficiencies.

Staff Management and Development:

  • Recruit, train, develop and retain a high-performing team of warehouse and logistics professionals.
  • Set performance expectations, provide feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure supervisors complete the company’s monthly EFR discussions with eligible staff.
  • Role model company’s How We Work Together Principles.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement; and implement safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Partner with Operations Leaders and Human Resources to create an engaged, safe, and high performing team.
  • Creating a talent and labor management process in coordination with HR to ensure that the right resources are in place.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in related fields (e.g., Business Administration; Logistics Management) or equivalent and relevant operational experience.
  • Demonstrated leader with 5 years+ progressive management experience in a 3PL environment.
  • Ecommerce or direct to consumer/ business (D2C/B2C) highly preferred.
  • Experience in a fast pace, high volume unit pick fulfillment DC environment.
  • Ability to operate in a high-volume environment during extremely busy peaks season while executing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to understand financial reports; prior P&L responsibility is desirable.
  • Hands-on strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to drive a high performing team across multiple functions.
  • Proficiency in driving KPIs and getting teams organized around metrics attainment.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite or GSuite business platform tools.
  • The ability to communicate succinctly, clearly and with purpose.
  • Bilingual Spanish language is preferable.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs.; occasionally, with team support, lift and/or move objects greater than 30 lbs.
