This position is in our specialized portfolio enterprise where we serve diverse businesses who support unique customers or markets, including animal nutrition and health, bioindustrial, road safety salt and Cargill joint ventures.

Job Purpose and Impact

Job type: Full time
Shift available: Nights (flexibility needed, either 12 or 8 hours per shift)
Compensation: $23.50 /hr plus an additional $0.25 /hr for the shift differential

Principal accountabilities:
Conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in process and final products independently and support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
Ensure compliance programs for all individual testing, which includes monitoring adherence to regulations and other procedural food safety compliance.
Interpret and document results of tests into active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
Run calibration checks, preventive maintenance tasks and simple repair to analytical instrumentation and maintain customer specifications books.
Help develop food and feed safety, quality and regulatory culture and collaborate cross functionally to build, maintain and improve an effective food safety, quality and regulatory culture.
Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility
Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
Basic computer skills
Ability to work to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
Prior experience working in a production or plant environment
High school diploma/GED or a minimum of two years equivalent work experience


Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook
Experienced in manufacturing as Line Inspectors or equivalent experience
In-depth knowledge of sanitation and manufacturing practices in the assessment of plant hygiene program
Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
