Focus: With Additional Subspecialty Expertise in an Area of Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology Desirable
(Academic Clinician or Physician-Scientist)
Department of Pathology
Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc.
Harvard Medical School, Boston
The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a full-time academic Molecular Pathologist (open rank, junior/mid-career/senior) with commensurate faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School. BIDMC is a tertiary care facility with 743 licensed beds and an internationally renowned principal teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School with NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center-affiliated Cancer Center.
The BIDMC Department of Pathology has launched new strategic initiatives in cutting-edge Precision Diagnostics (including cancer genomics, multiplex biomarker theranostics, and computational/digital pathology). As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Pathology, provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. We're also proud and excited to be an integral part of the landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England's only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will provide unparalleled opportunities for pathology and other physician specialties to be part of DFCI's internationally recognized cancer team.
We are looking for an active, energetic, team-oriented faculty member to help us shape our future agenda and engage in areas that are being actively developed.
Strong diagnostic expertise in building and signing out molecular diagnostics (including genomic and transcriptomic NGS, methylation testing, liquid biopsy testing, long read sequencing) is required. Expertise or interest in developing cutting-edge "post-genomic" precision diagnostics such as Artificial Intelligence Pathology, multiomic diagnostics, or cancer proteomics and metabolomics are desirable. Strong interest in further developing the crucial role of Pathology in clinical trials is a plus, including new companion diagnostics.
Additionally, interest and expertise to sign out cases in an area of subspecialized Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology is desirable.
Candidates with a strong clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research program are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with existing NIH grant funding will be supported by attractive research space and start-up funds to expand their programs.
The successful candidate will join a team of faculty, residents, and fellows to provide world-class diagnostics at BIDMC. Additionally, the candidate will support the vibrant training programs, including pathology residency program, and multiple pathology fellowship programs.
Applicants must be board certified in Pathology (AP, CP, or AP/CP) and Molecular Genetic Pathology.
The candidate will be appointed to the full-time faculty of Harvard Medical School at an academic rank commensurate with experience.
