SteerBridge seeks a Mechanical Engineer with a Plumbing Specialization (CM-MP) to support construction and renovation efforts for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. 
The CM-MP will support construction management, design/build, engineering, and facilities management services for complex construction projects. Services may include pre-design phase services, design phase services, procurement support, construction services, claims services, administration services, and technical specialty services. 
This role is focused primarily on construction and design support within active healthcare environments rather than ongoing maintenance operations of MEP systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in design and construction. 
  • Specialization in plumbing systems, particularly within commercial, institutional, or healthcare environments. 
  • Experience working with mechanical contractors, commercial plumbing systems, HVAC plumbing systems, or similar construction-focused environments. 
  • Strong understanding of building codes, permitting requirements, construction materials and methods, and construction processes. 
  • Ability to review, prepare, and provide professional recommendations on scope documents, submittals, RFIs, and proposed changes. 
  • Experience supporting QA/QC efforts and identifying project risks, compliance concerns, and constructability issues. 
  • Strong communication and software skills with the ability to utilize various software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products. 
Required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. 
  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and VA PIV badge. 
  • Ability to quickly understand and apply local, state, and federal jurisdictional requirements. 
  • Ability to proactively identify and communicate potential project risks or code violations. 
  • Strong project coordination and problem-solving skills within construction and renovation environments. 
  • Experience reviewing design drawings and providing constructability and technical recommendations. 
  • Knowledge of healthcare facility construction and renovation environments preferred. 
$160,000 - $170,000 a year
A salary commensurate with experience will be offered.
