WGL - Pipeline Facilities Integrity Engineer
Are you someone who wants their work to make a difference? Tired of being an employee number? If so, and you have engineering experience in natural gas or related industry, you should consider this opportunity as a Pipeline Facilities Integrity Engineer. We are open to hiring at different levels depending on experience.
You Will
  • Lead piping or equipment integrity inspection projects at gate stations, pressure regulator stations, stored energy plants, and natural gas storage field with related equipment with coordination between contractors, operations, and asset management.
  • Manage small to moderate integrity-related projects and assessments at gas transmission facility of gate stations, pressure regulator stations, stored energy plant, and/or natural gas storage field with related equipment, including design & development, project cost estimating, coordinating temporary construction easement acquisition, and permitting, material determination and acquisition, construction specifications, contractor bid and selection process, construction management, restoration, and documentation.
  • Lead small repair/replacement projects.
  • Perform project management tasks of project scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Assist higher-level engineers on large-scale integrity management remediation or replacement projects.
  • Coordinate piping material testing processes for material verification with sample gathering and collaboration with the FIMP Data Quality Specialist
  • Conduct remaining strength calculations for carbon steel facility piping.
  • Support integrity processes, including records research for existing piping and process equipment, class location studies, mechanical integrity process for pressure vessels and pipe, and Specified Minimum Yield Strength (SMYS) calculations.
  • Perform risk assessments using the FIMP and SIMP Risk Models
  • Conduct analysis of the risk assessments for gate stations, pressure regulator stations, stored energy plants, and natural gas storage field with related equipment using the FIMP and SIMP Risk Models.
  • Support Sr Compliance Specialist on reports, audits, and program reviews
  • Participate in and assist with transmission integrity management program audits.
  • Participate and assist with reviewing and updating the Integrity Management Program plans for FIMP & SIMP, and the PSM governance documents.
  • Utilize and develop proficiency with DOT 192, Subpart "O", OSHA PSM, and other regulations in the performance of work assignments.

You Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science, or Petroleum and Natural Gas preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective relationships with business partners.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to write and present diverse ideas logically and concisely.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office for data management, research, analysis and reporting purposes.

Level I
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry

Level II
  • A minimum of 1 years of engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • "Engineer-in-Training Certificate" preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with the following codes and standards: (CFR 49, Part 192; OSHA PSM; ASME B31.3; ASME B31.8).
  • GIS software and/or modeling software experience is a plus.

Level III
  • A minimum five (5) years of engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • Two (2) years in mechanical integrity or OSHA Process Safety Management
  • "Engineer-in-Training Certificate" required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • NACE certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with the following codes and standards: (CFR 49, Part 192; OSHA PSM; API RP-1171; ASME B31.3; ASME B31.8; NFPA 59).
  • GIS software and/or modeling software experience is preferred.

Level IV
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • Five (5) years in mechanical integrity or OSHA Process Safety Management
  • "Engineer-in-Training Certificate" required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • NACE certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with the following codes and standards: (CFR 49, Part 192; OSHA PSM; API RP-1171; ASME B31.3; ASME B31.8; NFPA 59; API-510; API-570).
  • GIS software and/or modeling software experience is preferred.

Level V
  • 7+ Years experience required or 5+ Years experience with Master's degree.
  • P.E. required or PMP and GTI Competent Engineer certification with 2 or more NACE certifications required.

We offer a competitive salary range of $68,000 to $166,450 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
