Director of Pickleball
The Position
Under the direction of the Director of Racquet Sports, the Director of
Pickleball oversees all functions related to the Tennis Center's pickleball
programs. The Director of Pickleball will work to ensure efficiency and
growth in all related programs, clinics, and special events hosted by the
Tennis Center. Maintaining high program and member retention rate is of
utmost importance. The Director of Pickleball must be a results-oriented
leader dedicated to innovation, inclusivity, and excellence across the
programs. The Director of Pickleball must maintain high personal
standards and adhere to and carry out the Values and Purpose of Greater
Midland.
Major Job Responsibilities
• Create, develop, administrate and oversee new and existing
pickleball programs, leagues, clinics and events.
• Oversee budget and operations for pickleball programs, analyze
performance for continued improvement.
• Develop and maintain strategic planning for program growth,
including a dedicated youth program.
• Acquire and manage staff through effective recruiting,
interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, assigning and directing
work, evaluating performance, rewarding and managing
behaviors, addressing and resolving challenges.
• Welcome and engage new members in programs and activities
• Teach group and private lessons and programs as needed.
• Support success of all pickleball tournaments and events (i.e. Dow
Tennis Classic).
• Engage in community opportunities, stay current on industry
trends and share across leadership.
• Consistently demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with
Greater Midland's values.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience coaching pickleball or 10+ years
coaching tennis plus 4 years playing pickleball and 1 year
coaching are required.
• Experience with oversite of budgets greater than $300,000.
• Experience with all levels of pickleball from youth to seniors.
• PPR, IPTPA or equivalent certifications are desired.
• Playing level of 5.0+ required.
• Outstanding organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to create, develop, and oversee new and existing adult
programs.
• A passion to create a memorable customer experience for out
clients.
