Position Information
Job Title Assistant Professor of Exercise Science Position Purpose
New England College in Henniker, NH seeks to fill a full-time Assistant Professor of Exercise Science position to start fall 2026. This position is focused on undergraduate teaching, service and scholarship in the content area of Exercise Science.
Essential Duties Summary
  • Instruct and advise students in courses in Exercise Science, with a focus on biomechanics, coaching, and motor learning.
  • Provide leadership for and within the Exercise Science program.
  • Collaboration with other departments on campus as well as the surrounding community.
  • Assist with program recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, scheduling, and program assessment.
  • Supervise internships and field experiences within the discipline.
  • Engage in and promote the College's emphasis on experiential learning.
  • Mentor and direct undergraduate research projects.
  • Provide service to the department, division, and the College.
  • Participate in professional organizations and engage in scholarly activities internally or externally.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related discipline;
  • Documented effectiveness in college teaching using engaged learning in both online and face-to-face delivery;
  • Experience in the field or in an educational institution in the areas of Exercise Science or related discipline;
  • Past supervision and mentoring of students in field experiences and other professional opportunities related to career development;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the integration of experiential learning opportunities into courses;
  • Current in the field of Exercise Science or a related discipline;
  • Understands the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification(s) in related areas, such as personal training, strength and conditioning, or athletic training (ACSM, CSCS, NSCA);
  • Expertise in exercise science sub-categories such as sports psychology, sport in the society, coaching, adapted physical activity, and health promotion.
