Pharmacy intake specialists are healthcare professionals responsible for processing new prescription orders and verifying patient information at the beginning of the pharmacy workflow. They collect and review patient data, insurance details, and prescription information to ensure accuracy and compliance. Their role is critical in facilitating smooth communication between patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacists, helping to prevent medication errors and delays. Pharmacy intake specialists often work in retail, mail-order, or specialty pharmacies and may interact with patients directly or over the phone.
