Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Transfer Center Coordinator serves as the primary contact for referring physicians requesting the services from Mount Nittany Medical Center for continued patient care. Facilitates all patient transfers into and outgoing transfers, as well as, all direct admissions for any service line/specialty.  Integrates with Hospitalist teams for timely and efficient patient movement. The position requires the ability to multitask, identify and escalate concerns, maintain great customer service, and foster the intersection for patient access to healthcare services via the Transfer Center.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  1. High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  2. College degree of medical certificate program preferred.
  3. Formal medical training preferred.

Experience:

  1. Two years healthcare transfer center or emergency call center experience or four years healthcare business setting experience. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Ability to utilize multiple communication methods within the department.
  4. Computer literacy/data entry skills. 
  5. Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
