Patient Navigator

Highland Medical Center – Monterey, VA

Highland Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Patient Navigator to join our team. Patient Navigators are often the first point of contact for our patients and play an essential role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and efficient experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

This position is responsible for coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, assisting with registration and insurance verification, answering phones, collecting payments, and supporting both patients and clinical staff in a fast-paced rural healthcare setting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and passionate about providing excellent service to our community.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Medical office experience or training preferred
  • BLS Certification required
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, Microsoft Office, and general office technology
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow
  • Complete patient registration and verify demographic and insurance information
  • Assist patients with forms, billing questions, and individual needs
  • Collect and record payments accurately
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and confidentiality
  • Verify insurance eligibility, copays, deductibles, and sliding scale needs
  • Monitor appointment reminders and scheduling efficiency
  • Support providers, staff, and administration as needed
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming work environment
