Job description

We are currently seeking compassionate, responsible, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs), In this role, you will be responsible for delivering professional nursing care to our residents in accordance with established standards, policies, and best practices.

Qualified candidates must hold a current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Previous experience in long-term care and/or working with seniors in a residential facility is required. Experience with PointClickCare is considered an asset. Strong communication skills, including active listening, are essential, along with the ability to document accurately and in a timely manner. We are seeking individuals who demonstrate initiative, collaborate effectively within a team environment, and have experience supervising, managing, and leading staff.

Position Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) plays a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centered care to residents in our long-term care home. The RPN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team, residents, and families to promote health, comfort, and quality of life.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and organizational policies.

  • Monitor, document, and report changes in residents’ health status promptly.

  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs), Personal Support Workers (PSWs), physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

  • Support residents’ emotional, physical, and social well-being through person-centered approaches.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to PSWs and other team members in the delivery of daily care.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation as required by legislation and organizational standards.

  • Promote a safe environment by following infection prevention and control practices, occupational health and safety regulations, and organizational policies.

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families, and colleagues.


Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), in good standing.

  • Experience in long-term care, gerontology, or a related healthcare setting (preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to working with older adults.

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Up-to-date immunizations, including TB testing, MMR and Flu
