SUMMARY: The Materials Handler plays a vital role in supporting the Materials & Purchasing department by efficiently managing the flow of materials, parts, and supplies throughout the facility. This position ensures accurate inventory tracking, timely receipt and delivery of goods, and the organization of storage areas to support production and operational needs. The Materials Handler will work closely with purchasing and production teams to maintain a smooth supply chain process.

  1. MATERIAL RECEIPT, STORAGE & INVENTORY CONTROL
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Accurately store materials in designated locations and maintain organized inventory areas.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventories as needed.
  • Manage receiving and storage of customer parts.
  • Monitor and restock as needed shop hardware, tooling bins, and shop supplies.
  • Manage scrap metal disposition.
  1. MATERIAL ISSUING & PRODUCTION SUPPORT
  • Issues materials to job utilizing Epicor (ERP) System with vertical storage interface.
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing team to report material discrepancies or shortages.
  • Manage shipping supplies and request reorders as needed.
  1. SHIPPING & DOCUMENTATION
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for shipping customer systems and spare parts, including packing slips, bills of lading, customs forms, and other relevant documents, as applicable.
  • Assist in packing, labeling, and staging materials for outbound shipments.
  • Processes customer spare part shipments (sales orders) through the Epicor system, and packages them for shipment.
  1. EQUIPMENT OPERATION & SAFETY COMPLIANCE
  • Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking
  • Basic computer skills, including inventory software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Knowledge of shipping/receiving procedures and documentation
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of material management functions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or materials handling role
  • Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with inventory management systems a plus, Epicor is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
