Description

Driven and dependable Warehouse Associate passionate about making a real impact in the community by ensuring food reaches families in need. Plays a vital role in the fast-paced flow of food bank operations- acquisition, storage, and distribution of food products, including packing orders, unloading deliveries, re-packing food products, operating warehouse equipment, and general maintenance and cleanup with accuracy and efficiency. Skilled in order fulfillment, inventory management, and safe equipment operation, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. Recognized for teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the mission of fighting hunger and strengthening communities every day.

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs variety of general warehouse duties including packing customer orders, unloading deliveries, re-packing of food products, general maintenance and janitorial duties in warehouse, office, common areas and grounds.
  • Assists in loading and unloading products onto/from trucks. Assures the quantity as well as quality of deliverables. Places products in appropriate storage racks.
  • Operates motorized forklift, pallet jacks and other equipment within the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner when trained.
  • Trains and exhibits proficiency in all job requirements within the warehouse to include but not limited to packing product, properly storing product, sorting and re-packaging assets, re-labeling as required, loading, unloading, and inspecting. Proficient in knowledge and application of food defense concepts.ย 
  • Maintains optimal operating level of Food Bank equipment including oil, gas, fluid levels battery, tires, etc. and reports any problems to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Assists management in coordinating monthly, quarterly, and annual inventories.
  • Assists in the daily operation of the warehouse and other related activities as required or as assigned by the management team.ย ย 
  • Other tasks as assignedย 

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working in a warehouse and/or product distribution center as a general warehouse worker and/or driver.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Alabama Driver's License
  • Ability to read and perform basic mathematical functions
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 70lbs daily

SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Willingness and ability to learn sanitary food storage and handling guidelines and practices
  • Certification to operate motorized forklift or willingness and ability to obtain certificationย 
  • Commitment to serving vulnerable populations and ending hunger in our service area
