Position Purpose

The Packaging Operator I assists in packaging manufactured metered dose inhalation (MDI) products in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role requires close adherence to safety, productivity, and compliance standards, working under Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).


Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain pharmaceutical packaging equipment, ensuring minimal rejection and maximum output within quality standards.

  • Perform cleaning and changeover of machines and workspace between batches/products.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance; identify and assist in resolving packaging-related issues.

  • Ensure accurate status labeling throughout the packing line.

  • Verify calibrations and maintain records for equipment.

  • Complete line clearance before initiation of packaging in assigned area.

  • Wear and work in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per SOP.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively as part of a team or independently.

  • Execute procedures safely and efficiently; complete documentation timely and accurately.

  • Adhere to cGMPs, compliance/regulatory, and company policies at all times.

  • Safely operate equipment per Health & Safety guidelines and equipment manuals.

  • Assist with daily equipment maintenance and support operational areas including warehouse, manufacturing, facilities as needed.

  • Support training for new or existing staff as required.


Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in packaging operations (pharmaceutical preferred).

  • Hands-on familiarity with cGMP in a manufacturing environment.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical machinery and control systems.

  • Proficiency in following SOPs and in written/verbal English communication.

  • Experience working with and wearing PPE.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong documentation skills; ability to accurately complete batch records.

  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including OSHA.

  • Physical ability to lift/bend frequently (up to 50 lbs occasionally).

  • Ability to wear respiratory devices as required.

  • Accredited college certificate or degree.

  • Experience in related manufacturing industries (see below).

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance, and documentation in manufacturing.
