Job Description: The pre anesthesia assessment nurse works with the anesthesia providers to plan, and organize all aspects of care for scheduled surgical patients. The nurse works closely with the Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Pulmonology providers to insure patients are optimized for a safe anesthesia and positive surgical outcome. This process minimizes delays, postponement and surgical cancellations increasing patient satisfaction and OR utilization. The pre anesthesia assessment nurse also provides patient education in how to prepare for surgery, what to expect and what they will physically encounter during their surgical stay and how that may affect their care after surgery.
