Job Title: Laser Machine Operator (Flat and Tube Laser), pay up to $27/hr
Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating flat laser and tube laser cutting machines in a precision metal fabrication environment. You will work from blueprints and production documents to process metal components accurately and efficiently, ensuring high-quality output in a fast-paced job shop setting.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate flat laser and tube laser cutting machines on a daily basis.
- Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, and purchase orders to determine job requirements and material specifications.
- Load, position, and secure material on the laser equipment and run material through the laser according to job specifications.
- Use a tape measure and basic measuring tools to verify material dimensions and part accuracy.
- Utilize CNC controls to input or select programs, adjust settings, and monitor machine operations.
- Perform basic laser operation tasks, including starting, stopping, and monitoring cutting processes to ensure quality and consistency.
- Work in a job shop environment, handling a variety of custom and production jobs with changing priorities.
- Support fabrication activities, including tasks related to welding and metalworking, as needed.
- Apply good math and geometry skills to understand axes, angles, and dimensions required for accurate cutting.
- Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, and make minor adjustments as needed.
- Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting, grabbing, bending, pulling, and positioning components throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety procedures at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues related to equipment, materials, or quality.
Essential Skills
- At least 1+ years of experience operating machines in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- At least 1+ years of experience reading blueprints and applying basic mathematical skills.
- At least 1+ year of experience utilizing CNC equipment.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently read a tape measure.
- Experience working in a job shop environment.
- Experience working with bills of materials (BOM) and purchase orders.
- Fabrication experience, including exposure to welding processes.
- Strong math and geometry skills, including understanding axes and angles.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as grabbing, bending, lifting, pulling, and standing for 8+ hours per day.
- Basic laser operation experience or familiarity with laser cutting processes.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work from technical documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Additional certifications, apprenticeships, or technical degrees in manufacturing, machining, or related fields are considered a plus.
- Press brake experience is a plus.
- Fitting and welding experience (MIG) is a plus.
- Prior laser cutting experience is a plus.
- CNC programming experience is a plus.
- Experience working in a precision metal fabrication environment is beneficial.

Work Environment
This role is based in a job shop manufacturing environment focused on precision metal fabrication, including laser cutting, forming, welding, laser tube cutting, machining, and finishing. You will work with flat laser and tube laser equipment and CNC-controlled machinery. The facility is not climate controlled, but it is well insulated and generally tolerable in both winter and summer. The position requires standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks throughout the shift. Multiple shifts are available: a first shift running Monday through Thursday from 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with overtime on Friday mornings; a second shift running Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with overtime starting Friday at noon; and a weekend shift running Friday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., paid for 40 hours. Appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing and fabrication environment is expected, including adherence to safety and PPE requirements.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.75 - $27.25/hr.
