Job description

Seasonal/Temporary Load Builder Clerk (Warehouse-Night Shift)

The Load Builder Clerk is responsible for safely and efficiently building outbound delivery loads for assigned routes to ensure accurate, on-time delivery to customers. This role plays a critical part in warehouse operations by organizing, staging, and securing product based on route sequencing, weight distribution, and delivery requirements in a fast-paced food distribution environment.

Schedule: This is a seasonal/temporary full-time position. 4-Day work week - start time is 3:45pm. 10-hour shifts + mandatory OT as needed. Sunday-Thursday. This is not a set schedule; schedule may change due to business demands.

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Load Building & Route Staging
    • Organize product in proper stop sequence to support efficient delivery routes.
    • Ensure proper weight distribution and pallet configuration to prevent product damage.
    • Build and stage outbound loads according to route pick tickets and delivery schedules.
  • Accuracy & Quality Control
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies prior to shipment.
    • Ensure all loads meet company quality and food safety standards.
    • Verify product, quantities, and lot codes against order documentation.
  • Warehouse Coordination
    • Assist with rework or adjustments as required during shift operations.
    • Communicate effectively regarding shortages, substitutions, or route changes.
    • Collaborate with order selectors, forklift operators, and supervisors to ensure timely load completion.
  • Equipment & Safety
    • Maintain a clean and organized dock and staging area.
    • Use pallet jacks, forklifts (if certified), and RF scanners as needed.
    • Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and dock safety procedures.
  • Schedule & Productivity
    • Work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
    • Meet daily load completion deadlines tied to dispatch times.
    • Support overall warehouse productivity and on-time delivery performance.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Previous warehouse, shipping, or load building experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in food distribution or cold storage environments is a plus.
  • Previous experience with Manhattan Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to have attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to have teamwork and communication skills.
  • Abilit to work in a fast paced, safety focused environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret pick tickets, load sheets, and routing documents.
  • Ability to work in varying warehouse conditions (dry, refrigerated, or freezer environments).
