The Role

The Manager Field Operations is accountable for leading the service delivery efforts to National network and customers, as well as all enterprise business products and services. Strong leadership and collaboration skills are required as this position is responsible for the results from multiple organizations in both direct and indirect reporting structures. This position is also actively involved in community and organizations that help strengthen communities and our Brand.

Reports to the Director of Operations and works independently on day-to-day operations managing a team of technicians consisting of both inside plant (ISP) and outside Plant (OSP).

Location and Schedule

This is a full time hybrid position located in Cheyenne, WY. May include Nights weekends and holidays.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ongoing management of the fiber optic plant and the various electronic network elements attached to it.  These include:
    • Multiple network equipment types (including DWDM, Ethernet, IP, VoIP and SONET technologies) and manufacturers.
    • Installation, operations, and maintenance of the network equipment at both company operated and customer operated facilities.
    • Coordinate with multiple teams outside of the division to test, activate, insert and utilize various network elements. (Including Real Estate, CCM, Sales, Sales Engineering, Contractors, Design, Test & Activations, Customers, and multiple NOC organizations)
  • Accountable to ensure team is effectively and efficiently completing daily routines (provisioning work requests, maintenance work, mark and locate tickets, preventative maintenance, and change management/grooming tasks) and meeting metric goals (on-time-performance, task interval yield, construction project completion, trouble response and restore times, spares handling, overtime).  
  • Analyze and measure data to identify key trends in performance.
  • Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with personnel at all impacting organizations as well as other external contacts so that issues are resolved correctly and timely.
  • Manage employees, contractors, and vendors for the efficient and timely completion of projects.
  • Validate direct report time reporting for accuracy.
  • Guide and provide leadership to direct reports during transition periods between company and organizational changes.
  • Ensure staff has the resources and skills needed to support work initiatives.
  • Support compliance through enforcement of standards, policies, and processes.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to team members.
  • Establish and monitor performance objectives for direct reports that align with organization goals, while coaching to attain objectives.
  • Determine training requirements and promote direct report development through individual development plans (IDP), peer-to-peer training, and internal and external training resources.
  • Continually striving to better define and improve departmental processes for optimal efficiency and network reliability while engaging intradepartmental and interdepartmental resources to achieve results.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience. Typically, with 5-7 years related experience and 2+ years previous manager level leadership experience preferred.
  • Pro-actively seeks new opportunities to increase operational efficiency.
  • Proven strong oral and written communication skills and ability to successfully deliver presentations to executive level.
  • Possess strong organizational, time management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze and manage financial data and capital and expense budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demands with competing priorities, all while making timely decisions.
  • Ability to build group commitment to company goals and objectives.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-pace, results driven organization.
  • Must be able to prepare presentations and clearly articulate the position being taken in the presentations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills acquired through previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute short- and long-term objectives in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel as required.  
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be available 7/24 to support network emergencies 
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$105,786 - $141,047 in these states: WY
