The position focuses on building a right-first-time culture, ensuring strong labour relations, and integrating the team into a cohesive, high-performing operations unit.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to established processes, standards, and schedules within the manufacturing environment.
  • Continuously improve business processes to achieve best practices in quality, cost efficiency, and labour relations.
  • Apply Lean methodology and Six Sigma tools on the shop floor to drive operational excellence and process transformation.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture by maintaining housekeeping standards (5S) and enforcing safe working practices.
  • Develop and sustain a right-first-time environment where quality is built into the product rather than inspected into it.
  • Integrate the functional role within the broader Operations Unit to foster a one-team approach.
  • Coach, develop, and provide constructive feedback to employees to enhance performance and engagement.
  • Address employee issues promptly and fairly to support a positive and productive work environment.
  • Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions.
  • Manage daily operations in alignment with budget, manufacturing, and scheduling requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer-focused service and timely delivery of products.
  • React quickly to unforeseen events and use appropriate resources to resolve day-to-day operational problems.

Essential Skills

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a line management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience applying Lean methodology and Six Sigma tools to shop floor processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting operational transformations to establish and develop organizational excellence.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with KPIs in an operations or manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment, including knowledge of collective agreements.
  • Strong leadership and supervision skills, including work delegation and team coordination.
  • High level of customer-oriented mindset with a strong desire to provide excellent service.
  • Ability to express ideas logically and coherently, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ethics, integrity, and honesty in all professional interactions.
  • Ability to cooperate effectively with others and work as part of a team.
  • Strong motivation to achieve results and complete tasks effectively.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and assume full responsibility for outcomes.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to utilize appropriate resources for day-to-day issues.
  • Capacity to react quickly and effectively to unforeseen events in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, and/or heavy manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • Experience managing budgets and aligning operations with financial targets.
  • Experience in manufacturing scheduling and production planning.
  • Experience with business process improvement and labour relations best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and engagement within teams.
  • Positive attitude and resilience in the face of operational challenges.

Why Work Here?

You will join a performance-driven operations environment that values continuous improvement, safety, and quality at every stage of production. The organization encourages the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools, offering opportunities to lead meaningful process improvements and operational transformations. You will work in a culture that emphasizes integrity, respect, cooperation, and accountability, where employee engagement and development are key priorities. The role provides the opportunity to influence how a manufacturing unit operates, contribute to organizational excellence, and grow your leadership capabilities in a complex, unionized environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing operations unit that operates on shift work, requiring flexibility to work various shifts.
