Job description

JOB TITLE: Director of School Operations


REPORTS TO: Director of Network Operations


DEPARTMENT: School Operations


LEAD Public Schools is Nashville’s largest homegrown charter network with five schools serving 2,400 students through both open enrollment and zoned-enrolled schools. JOB GOAL:

The Director of School Operations (DSO) will be responsible for the Finance and Facilities functions for the school site including vendor selection and management, purchasing and accounting, facilities management, transportation and technology. This position also serves as the onsite human resources contact, and implementing programs designed by the network. This position partners with the Principal to ensure that the academics are able to meet LEAD Public Schools standards and manages a team of operations staff.

EDUCATION & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required)

  • 3 years of operational/administrative experience

  • 2+ years of experience with facilities management

  • Education management or non-profit management preferred

THE ROLE:

  • Oversees the physical operation of the school including security, key management, cameras, copiers etc. and maintains the schools inventory of hardware

  • Manages the school operational budget and maintains accurate and continuous record in partnership with the Finance Team in the Network Support Team (NeST)

  • Leader of the schools emergency response team, completes required trainings, and follows emergency communications, reporting, and implementation procedures

  • Partners with the Director of Network Operations with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel, including the evaluation of support staff

  • Researches, evaluates, purchases and manages school services including building maintenance, transportation and grounds

  • Manages, designates, and responds campus operational platforms such as Nav360, Slack, Freshdesk, SmartInspect, Transportation Tracker, and Attendance Tracker/ DeansList

  • Manages the purchase of all school operating supplies

  • Supports bids and develops specifications for all outside contractual work

  • Ensures the safety of personnel and students in their use of the facilities including the scheduling and management of required drills (fire, lockdown, etc.)

  • Manages and develops the front office and specialized support staff including Operations Associate, Office Manager, Receptionist, and Athletics Director

  • Maintains accurate and complete records of all school assets and records for compliance and audit purposes

  • Manages and oversees the registration and re-registration process in conjunction with the Office Manager and Family and Community Engagement Coordinator

  • Serve as backup medical designee to administer first aid and student medication

  • Additional duties as assigned

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Project Management or Project Management Professional Certification

  • 2+ years experience with financial/purchasing management related functions preferred
