Job Summary
Manages the storerooms and laydown yards within the assigned Operating Company and region to ensure the business needs of the applicable business unit are met in a safe and cost effective manner. Effectively partner with managers and supervisors of Supply Chain, Fleet, Distribution and Transmission to align material availability with construction projects and business units needs. Activley monitors Supply Chain measures to identify corrective action that is needed to ensure Supply Chain and Business Units goals and objectives are achieved. Responsible for the safety and supervision of personnel and work activites regarding receiving, storing, distributing stock and accounting for all materials, supplies and equipment for the stores and laydown yard areas.
Job Description
What you'll do:
  • Essential Job Functions:
    Direct all tasks associated with the operations of the Supply Chain storerooms and laydown yards.
  • Recommend storeroom and laydown yard staffing and enhancements to the materials and workflow processes to management.
  • Recommend policies and procedures relating to the safety, proper control of inventory and material services for assigned storerooms and laydown yards.
  • Direct and coordinate all functions between transmission construction projects, RDC's, laydown yards and storerooms. Act as liaison between BU Project Management, Real Estate, Procurement, Accounting, Engineering and Supply Chain.
  • Develop and implement and / or assist in the development and implementation of measurements and goals of storerooms and laydown yards. Monitor the results of measures and take appropriate corrective action needed to ensure the Supply Chain and Business Units goals are achieved.
  • Oversee the hiring of all staff augmentation contractors following all AEP procurement and contract services policies and procedures.
  • Oversee all equipment rentals and service contract requirements needed to maintain assigned laydown yards.

What we're looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field;
  • or Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant work experience
  • or HS diploma and 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Additional Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Supply Chain supervision.

Other requirements:
  • Travel required (30-40% of time);
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the practices, policies and procedures of the Company pertaining to safety, procurement, receiving, storing, of materials and equipment.
  • Must be a good administrator and have the ability and knowledge to work effectively with other departments of the company.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to supervisor employees and coordinate their work within all company policies and procedures.
