About the Role
The Controls & Sensors Engineer supports the design, development, validation, and commercialization of next-generation Artificial Lift technologies.
This role focuses on controls systems, embedded electronics, sensor integration, power electronics, and intelligent monitoring technologies that enhance production optimization, system reliability, and operational performance.
The position serves as a technical contributor and project leader within multidisciplinary teams, supporting development of advanced electrical architectures, sensing technologies, automation systems, and surface/downhole interfaces used in Artificial Lift applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead development of controls, sensing, and electrical system architectures for Artificial Lift technologies.
• Design and support embedded electronics, sensor integration, motor control systems, and surface/downhole communication interfaces.
• Develop and execute validation plans, qualification testing, and reliability strategies for controls and sensing systems.
• Support development of intelligent monitoring, automation, and diagnostics capabilities for production optimization applications.
• Design and review schematics, PCB layouts, firmware integration plans, and associated technical documentation.
• Apply simulation and modeling tools to evaluate electrical system performance, thermal behavior, and long-term reliability.
• Perform reliability engineering activities including FMEA, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation planning.
• Support prototype development, laboratory testing, field trials, and commercialization activities.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Operations teams to ensure integrated system performance.
• Drive innovation and contribute to Halliburton's intellectual property portfolio.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in electrical system design, testing, and product development.
  • Experience with power electronics, motor control systems, or industrial drive technologies.
  • Working knowledge of reliability engineering, validation testing, and engineering lifecycle processes.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) or Variable Speed Drives (VSD).
  • Knowledge of international certification and compliance standards (CE, UL, TÜV).
  • Experience supporting product certification or regulatory approval processes.
  • Experience in oil & gas, Artificial Lift, or harsh-environment electrical systems.
