THE ROLE
The Observatory Ambassador is a dynamic, guest-facing role dedicated to creating memorable experiences for all visitors. Focused on the overall guest journey, this position ensures that local, national, and international guests connect meaningfully with the Observatory's offerings. Ambassadors play an integral role in delivering a welcoming, informative, and engaging environment that enhances every guest's visit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Greet guests as they enter assigned areas
  • Ensure the safety of our guests while on tour or in assigned areas
  • Provide a high level of customer service by engaging guests, answering questions, resolving issues, and providing service to ensure a great experience
  • Retain learned knowledge and subsequently share it with guests by providing operational answers (e.g., observatory lay-out, experience locations) to all inquiries
  • Perform and present information in a concise, audible manner to guests-speaking loudly, clearly, and having a commanding presence
  • Perform other duties as necessary or as required by management

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of one year experience hosting in attractions, entertainment, or hospitality environment
  • Multi-lingual and sign language capabilities preferred
  • Energetic and outgoing personality
  • Sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks including constant reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time
  • Ability to engage guests and work in a busy, highly interactive environment
  • Ability to always demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service
  • Ability to memorize historical and technical information
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing 10-20 pounds (occasionally 30)
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends & holidays as necessary)

COMPENSATION
$21/hour + a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan
WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, and handle controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and stoop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
