Description
The Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences at Clemson University is seeking a lecturer for a fulltime (100% Teaching and Advising; teach six to seven, 3-credit courses per academic year and advise each semester), 9- month non-tenure track position in Nutrition. This individual will have a background in human nutrition or related field with a preference for applicants who have formal education and/or teaching experience including, but not limited to Nutrition Counseling, Nutrition for Nursing (includes some MNT content), Life Cycle Nutrition, and Introduction to Nutrition.
The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate nutrition classes that fulfill departmental needs and are within the candidate's expertise area. The Chair in the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences will supervise the successful candidate and assign coursework. Since this position lies within the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to interact collegially and collaborate with faculty working in nutrition, food science, and packaging science.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching major and non-major undergraduate nutrition courses and for providing academic advising to students. The chair will assign courses but these are the proposed description of duties: NUTR 2030 Introduction to the Principles of Human Nutrition, NUTR 2040 Nutrition Across the Life Cycle, NUTR 3020/3021 Nutrition Assessment and Nutrition Assessment Labs, NUTR 4270 Nutrition Counseling, and advise undergraduate students. Changes to these duties will be assigned at the discretion of the chair of the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences.

The Department has a total enrollment of 500 undergraduate, and over 60 graduate students. Qualifications
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the southern states) provides guidelines for faculty teaching baccalaureate courses of having a doctorate or master's degree in the teaching discipline (nutrition or related field) or a master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
Registered Dietitian credentials, 2-3 years of relevant work experience, university level teaching experience, and experience with distance education. Applicants should have excellent oral and written English communication skills, ability to work in teams, solve problems, and have demonstrated skills in electronic/information technology. Candidates that have proven effectiveness in university teaching will be given priority.
