DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Build and maintain solutions in public cloud solutions - AWS and Azure.
  • Build and maintain on-premises virtualization platforms (e.g. OpenStack, OpenNebula).
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • Ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability. Manage system performance, monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure system security by configuring firewalls, SSL, VPNs, and applying patches and updates.
  • Monitor and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine system upgrades, patching, and security compliance checks.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for escalated issues.
  • Provide emergency responses to critical outages or incidents.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal use.
  • Research emerging tools and technologies that help improve automation, security and performance.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years in Cloud infrastructure administration/engineering and Linux system administration/engineering.
  • Expert level understanding of OpenStack/OpenNebula or similar cloud orchestration solution is required.
  • Expert level understanding of designing and managing Kubernetes clusters is required.
  • Expert level understanding of designing and managing solutions in AWS and Azure is required.
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS, KVM, Kubernetes environments is required.
  • Expert level understanding of TCP/IP, network services, and storage systems is a plus.
  • Experience installing and maintaining distributed storage solutions like CEPH is a strong plus.
  • Automation mastery: Advanced skills in Ansible, Jenkins, Python/bash scripting.
  • Experience with Ubuntu/Canonical tools like MAAS, Landscape etc. is a plus.
  • Experience with Terraform, Helm, or cloud-native monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • AWS Professional solutions architect certification is a plus.
  • Azure Solutions architect expert certification is a plus.
  • BS or MS in engineering, computer science, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid passport may be required.

This position is onsite in Redmond, WA, and not open to remote status at this time.

This contract position includes the base pay range listed below and is eligible for benefits through the employing agency. Agency benefits include eligibility for medical insurance, employee assistance program, and paid sick leave. All benefits are subject to elections, eligibility requirements, plan and program terms. Benefits offerings will be confirmed at the time of offer by the employing agency, and may differ depending on the employing agency partner.
