Image Engineering was founded as a company that pushes boundaries, develops new ideas through design and fabrication, and is a leader in the visual display and special effects industry. We are comprised of a team of artists, engineers, event producers, fabricators and creative thinkers.


We have worked all over the United States completing thousands of projects in the field of creative multimedia shows for clients such as Paul McCartney, the Trans Siberian Orchestra, the Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, American Idol, America's Got Talent and multiple professional sports franchises in the NFL, NBA and NHL. We have also created permanent and temporary interactive installations for world class venues including the Staples Center and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Our strength lies in the broad range of techniques and custom special effects solutions we use to create first class spectaculars including laser effects, video projection and mapping, pyrotechnics, architectural lighting installs, custom constructed sets and bespoke engineered special effect solutions for live events and permanent applications.


The Controls System Engineer is a hands-on design position engaged in PLC design/ programming and sustaining of products designed by our in-house creative team as custom solutions for our clients. As part of a cross-functional team, this person has the responsibility of designing, implementing, testing of PLC or circuitry design as well as consulting on firmware design and mechanical design interface.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Experience in PLC and industrial control panel system design and programming
  • Preferred experience with Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen Brady PLC hardware and software
  • Utilize engineering CAD software including Altium, Solidworks Electrical, and Autodesk
  • Troubleshoot PLCs and PCBs to the Component Level
  • Create embedded software programming in C/C++
  • Create PLC programs in Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, and Function BLock Diagram
  • PLC and ICP assembly as necessary
  • Prepare correct first-time designs for manufacturing, Installation and commissioning
  • Interface with the Research and Development team to refine designs and optimize for manufacturing
  • Design and produce detailed schematics, manufacturing drawings, cable schedules, wiring lists, parts lists, test sheets
  • Produce and maintain detailed Bill of Materials and assembly drawings and consult with Assembly Engineers to ensure understanding of project
  • Continually research new products that meet the technical requirements and design needs of current or upcoming projects
  • Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers, advise on end of life and manufacturer trends
  • Interface with compliance to provide all necessary documentation to obtain 3rd part certifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-years work experience in a relevant electrical engineering position
  • Able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team in fast-paced environment on projects with short life cycles
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to pass background check
