What is MSP automation?

MSP automation refers to the use of software tools and scripts to automate routine and repetitive IT tasks managed by a Managed Service Provider (MSP). This includes processes such as patch management, system monitoring, backups, and ticketing. Automating these tasks helps MSPs improve efficiency, reduce human error, save time, and provide more reliable services to their clients. By leveraging automation, MSPs can focus more on strategic initiatives and less on manual, time-consuming work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an MSP Automation Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an MSP Automation Specialist, you need solid knowledge of IT infrastructure, scripting languages (such as PowerShell or Python), and experience with managed services platforms, often supported by relevant IT certifications. Familiarity with RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) tools, PSA (Professional Services Automation) systems, and automation frameworks is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These skills enable efficient service delivery, minimize manual errors, and help streamline operations for managed service providers.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in MSP automation, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in MSP (Managed Service Provider) automation often encounter challenges such as integrating diverse client systems, managing complex automation scripts, and ensuring minimal downtime during deployments. Effective communication with clients and internal teams is essential to clearly understand requirements and set realistic expectations. Staying updated on automation tools and best practices, as well as thorough testing in staging environments, helps minimize errors and streamline workflow. Collaboration with other IT specialists and regular training can further enhance efficiency and problem-solving within the team.

The Product Marketing Manager will drive product and technical marketing across our MSP portfolio, including email security, browse, collaboration, SASE, AI, WAF, Firewall, endpoint, and mobile security solutions, to develop content, go-to-market plans, and campaign strategies. You'll work closely with stakeholders across product, engineering, sales, and corporate marketing to create messaging, positioning, and content for sales enablement, demand, and thought leadership that will drive awareness and pipeline for the Workspace Security portfolio and increase sales. This person is a subject matter expert and has exemplary leadership skills to inspire cross-functional teams.
If you're passionate about:
  • Building for the MSP/MSSP ecosystem
  • Turning technical innovation into partner-ready stories

Key Responsibilities
Product Marketing (50%)
  • Own MSP-focused messaging and positioning for the MSP portfolio, spanning both sell-to and sell-through go-to-market motions.
  • Develop partner-centric value propositions (multi-tenancy, automation, margin, ease of use, scalability)
  • Collaborate with product management on roadmaps, packaging, and MSP platform strategy
  • Lead GTM strategy and launches tailored to MSP buying motions and service delivery models
  • Build and maintain competitive positioning, especially against key players
  • Translate product capabilities into clear partner outcomes (faster onboarding, lower operational overhead, higher attach rates)

Content Marketing (50%)
  • Create high-impact content across the funnel:
    • MSP playbooks, solution briefs, landing pages
    • Campaign messaging, email nurture, and website copy
    • Sales decks, battlecards, and objection-handling assets
  • Develop partner-facing campaigns that drive recruitment, enablement, and pipeline
  • Turn threat research and product innovation into thought leadership tailored to MSPs
  • Build scalable sales and partner enablement content to accelerate deal cycles
  • Support webinars, partner events, and distributor initiatives with targeted messaging and assets

Qualifications
  • 5+ years in product marketing, content marketing, or product management (cybersecurity, SaaS, or cloud preferred)
  • Strong understanding of MSP/MSSP business models (services-led selling, multi-tenant platforms, recurring revenue)
  • Proven ability to build end-to-end GTM strategies and content
  • Exceptional storytelling and copywriting skills-able to simplify technical concepts
  • Experience working with channel sales, partners, or distributors
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, sales, and marketing teams
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, matrixed environments

Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship from an employer now or in the future.
