About Us: DSL owns a Semi Truck and Trailer Diesel mechanic shop and parts distributorship specializing but not limited to Cummins and Volvo parts distribution.
Seeking: We are seeking a parts manager to organize and control Truck parts used by our service department. MUST be an organized and self motivated individual. Will be involved with parts cataloging, ordering, distributing and anything else needed to assist the service department manager to complete the shops goals by providing quality service.
Salary: $62,400 to $70,200 (Full-time). Depending on Experience.
Minimum Experience Required (may consider if does not meet criteria):
  • Management or supervisory role. 2 years +.
  • Parts Sales. 2 years + (semi truck parts sales preferred).
  • Service Technician. 1 years + (preferred but not required)
  • Specialized in Semi Truck parts (preferred but not required)

Education:
  • High school or equivalent (required).
  • College Associates or better (preferred but not required).

Location:
  • Villa Park, IL.

License:
  • Driver's License (required).
  • CDL (preferred but not required).

Special Skills:
  • Computer and Telephone work,
  • Operate forklift and parts truck. (preferred but not required)

Full Job Description:
Summary: Parts Manager is responsible for inventory stocking levels, days supply, inventory turns, and organizing day-to-day movement of the parts inventory. Along with protection and security of the parts inventory. Your role is to oversee the operation and continuous improvement of Parts warehouse and service technicians. You will work closely with the The Service Manager to ensure to ensure parts are available and properly inventoried and indexed. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of mechanical equipment, computer-based inventory and order management systems, operating metrics, budget development, and will deliver results relative to a plan and budget.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Manage Inventory. THIS IS KEY!
  • Part number and vendor research.
  • Stock plan regular stock orders.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Confirm Parts processing and update the inventory system.
  • Pull parts for shop and shipping purposes.
  • Maintain Physical Orders of Warehouse.
  • Catalog/barcode new parts properly.
  • Tracking the return of parts and manage warranty returns.
  • Adjust inventory levels as needed.
  • Forecast parts department inventory and growth.
  • Supervise stock order procedures.
  • Provide tech assistance when necessary.
  • Develop and enforce guidelines for working with customers.

Management and Supervision (as we grow):
  • Supervise work.
  • Monitor and enforce company dress codes.
  • Counsel employees.
  • Interview potential employees.
  • Process requests for hire/termination and payroll/salary change requests.
  • Prepare performance evaluations.
  • Establish work schedules.
  • Monitor and approve vacation/time off schedules.
  • Monitor workmen’s compensation program actions.
  • Establish and maintain employee record files.
  • Manage the inventory control program.

Must be able to:
  • Work without serious physical limitations.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Proficient in computers.
  • Knowledge of parts identification, sourcing and application.
  • Knowledgeable of system software applications to inventory control.
  • Capable of conducting effective training.
