As a Michelin Retread Technician, your daily responsibilities typically include inspecting used tires for retread suitability, preparing and repairing casings, operating specialized retreading equipment, and ensuring all safety and quality standards are met throughout the process. You'll work both independently and as part of a team, often collaborating with quality control inspectors and production supervisors. To thrive as a Michelin Retread Technician, you need mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and knowledge of tire retreading processes, usually acquired through on-the-job training or vocational education. These skills ensure the production of safe, high-quality retreaded tires, which is vital for customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

What is a Michelin retread technician?

A Michelin retread technician is a specialized worker responsible for inspecting, preparing, and applying new tread to worn commercial vehicle tires using Michelin’s retreading process. The goal is to extend the life of tires by replacing only the tread, which is the part that wears out, rather than the entire tire. Technicians follow strict safety and quality standards to ensure each retreaded tire meets Michelin’s performance requirements. This process helps fleets save money and reduces environmental impact by recycling tire casings.
