OVERVIEW

Mercy Street is currently taking applications for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in our Aquatics department as a Lifeguard. The Lifeguard will work in conjunction with Mercy Street teams in providing a safe, fun, relational and excellent experience for learning basic water safety and swimming. The Lifeguard position is a temporary, hourly position with great shift flexibility.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

****Stay Watchful.

  • Keep constant, active surveillance over the pool areaโ€”your eyes are the first line of safety.

  • Arrive ready to assess the pool for hazards and ensure all equipment is in place and functioning.

****Be Emergency-Ready

  • Know and follow all emergency proceduresโ€”respond immediately and effectively to any situation using the โ€œsafe-in-sixโ€ approach.

  • Keep a cool head under pressure and complete incident reports thoroughly and timely.

****Apply the Rulesโ€”With Care

  • Consistently apply and enforce pool safety rules and Mercy Street's policies in a way that's clear, respectful, and community-building.

  • Handle challenges with thoughtful solutions and a calm, objective attitude.

****Check & Protect

  • When not actively guarding, help test and balance pool chemicals and report or respond to issues as needed.

  • Keep safety records up to date and equipment checks completed.
