Position Summary

We are seeking a Product Owner Merchandising Planning to join our Product Team in Montreal, QC. In this role, you will lead the evolution of Merchandising Planning capabilities within our ERP platform, including Assortment Planning, Executive, Merchandise and Store Planning, Open-to-Buy (OTB), and inventory planning.

The Product Owner will act as a key bridge between merchandising, planning, data, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, data-driven planning solutions that align product assortments, inventory, and financial targets with business objectives. This role requires strong ownership, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate business needs into intuitive workflows, robust data models, and high-value product features.


Responsibilities

    Product Ownership & Delivery

    • Own and manage the product backlog for Merchandising Planning in alignment with product strategy and business priorities.
    • Define and refine user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria for planning workflows.
    • Drive Agile delivery through sprint ceremonies and ensure backlog readiness.
    • Support predictable, high-quality delivery of planning features.

    Merchandising Planning Domain & Stakeholder Alignment

    • Partner closely with merchandising and planning stakeholders.
    • Translate merchandising and planning processes into scalable system capabilities.
    • Ensure alignment with key business metrics such as sales, margin, sell-through, and inventory turns.
    • Manage dependencies across merchandising and planning systems.

    Functional & Technical Specification

    • Define detailed requirements for planning modules.
    • Ensure requirements address data consistency across hierarchies, planning flexibility, performance, and scalability.
    • Support top-down and bottom-up planning, scenario modeling, and versioning requirements.
    • Collaborate with architecture teams on ERP integrations.

    AI & Data-Driven Product Development

    • Leverage AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve backlog quality, analysis, and documentation.
    • Contribute to AI-driven product capabilities such as demand insights, assortment optimization, and recommendation engines.
    • Work with data teams to support advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.

    Integration & Platform Thinking

    • Ensure seamless integration with upstream and downstream systems.
    • Support API-driven and event-based planning data flows.
    • Align product design with composable ERP architecture and merchandising/planning data models.

    Quality, Testing & Continuous Improvement

    • Partner with QA to define test scenarios and UAT cycles for planning use cases.
    • Monitor product performance using metrics, user feedback, and system data.
    • Continuously improve product quality, usability, and performance.

    User Experience & Workflow Optimization

    • Contribute to improving user experience and operational workflows.
    • Ensure solutions are efficient, intuitive, and role-based.


    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelors degree in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Product Owner certification (CSPO or equivalent) is an asset.

    Experience

    • 36+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in retail merchandising or planning systems.
    • Strong experience in one or more of the following areas:
      • Merchandise Planning
      • Assortment Planning
      • Financial Planning, including OTB, margin, and sales forecasting

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience with merchandising and planning systems such as SAP, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder, or Anaplan.
    • Understanding of retail KPIs such as sell-through, GMROI, margin, and inventory turns.
    • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and planning data models.
    • Exposure to analytics or AI-driven planning tools.
    • Open to learning new products and systems.

    Technical & Functional Skills

    • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and product lifecycle management.
    • Familiarity with data models, workflows, and system interactions.
    • Experience with:
      • Enterprise integrations such as ERP, merchandising systems, and planning tools
      • APIs, data mapping, XML/JSON
