Role Summary:  The Director of Communications will report to the VP of Communications and will be accountable for creating and implementing operational plans for all facets of our global health communications strategy to support our organizational mission to accelerate health equity.  The Director of Communications will be responsible for providing day-to-day management and direction, contributing to strategic plans, and operational excellence for all Communications initiatives. The Director of Communications will serve as a key decision-maker for the Communications department and collaborate closely with colleagues in Development, Strategy, and Operations as well as our regions to elevate Max stories for all audiences. Responsibilities: Creates and directs implementation of communications initiatives that successfully define and promote the foundation and its mission. Leads and coordinates internal and external resources to implement communications initiatives. Manages freelance/agency resources and/or writes newsletters, brochures, press releases, and other communications and media materials items. Oversees the foundation website and social media strategy including audience targeting, content strategy, and search engine optimization. Engages with media, external partners, physician experts and other important stakeholders to educate, influence and drive interest in the organization’s mission. Performs complex and strategically critical assignments in their functional area such as issue management guidance and communications counsel for leadership Makes decisions that impact the organization at large, consults with executives on all high risk/ high impact decisions Works with key decision makers on issues that shape broad design matter and future process improvements Collaborates with team-members across the organization to deeply understand organizational operations and shares expertise to shape broad design matters and future process improvements Contributes to strategic changes with organization-wide impact, recognized internally as a leading expert in their field Owns the budget planning process for the Communications functional area Manages entry and mid-level team-members, and oversees the work of consultants Builds influential relationships with The Max Foundation partners and has built a network of people in peer organizations  Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s or relevant certification preferred 10+ years of professional experience in global health communications required; non-profit and/or experience across multiple healthcare sectors including pharmaceuticals and diagnostics a plus Experience in managing campaigns and initiatives with earned media, social media, and collateral elements Quick learner with a proven ability to adapt in all environments Advanced project management skills and ability to navigate in a fast-paced environment with a solid track-record of following through on commitments Agile thinker with excellent analytical skills and proven ability to make thoughtful decisions & critical decisions Experience working in a global and multicultural capacity across time zones and among diverse team Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; written and verbal fluency in French, Spanish, or another language, a plus Willing and able to travel domestically or internationally, on occasion  Skills and Attributes: Passionate about The Max Foundation’s mission and vision, and determined to lead and accomplish all goals related to current and future strategic plans High attention to detail and a high standard for quality work product Understanding of and comfortable in a global environment, with an emphasis on low and middle-income countries Passion for exceptional collaboration, and flexibility to do what it takes to elevate positive culture Comfort working in a complex, fast-paced, and high-workload environment Caring, humble, and people-oriented servant leader Resourceful, finds solutions using all available data to overcome challenges impacting the organization Benefits Summary: Employer-sponsored benefits include: 100% medical, dental, and vision premium coverage for employees; 50% premium coverage for spouse and/or dependents Annual vacation accrual 80 hours (increases over time), personal time accrual of 104 hours, 12 paid company holidays, and 2 floating holidays per year $10,000 Basic Life and AD&D insurance coverage; Short-term disability insurance Additional benefits include: Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Optional employee covered Long Term Disability and Supplemental Life Insurance Eligibility for our Safe Harbor 401k plan participation after 3 months of employment, including Max-paid 3% non-elective contribution regardless of participation Monthly wellness benefit (earn up to $70/month), Costco membership, and WFH/Commuter Stipend ($1,800/year)   Compensation: Typical hiring range for this role is $115,291 – $138,349 USD.
