Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled fashion buyer and vendor manager to join our client's growing team in New York. This is a thrilling opportunity to become part of a multinational eCommerce company. The post holder and their team play a crucial role in helping merchants to engage with targeted audiences.
Major responsibilities:
• Proactively drive procurement activities to achieve category sales targets and new vendor acquisition objectives in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with brands and suppliers to source goods suitable for the target consumer.
• Manage category effectively, including market opportunity analysis, supplier and merchant selection, negotiation, and onboarding processes.
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, identifying improvement opportunities in service, delivery, cost, and business terms.
• Demonstrate proficiency in vendor management, conducting thorough reviews and negotiations to ensure compliance.
• Utilize external resources to support company objectives in the U.S. market.
• Develop deep understanding of assigned category, including market trends, products, pricing, competition, and opportunities.
• Lead various initiatives as project lead, ensuring team goals are achieved.
• Handle additional assignments as needed.
Requirements
• Proven experience in negotiating, reviewing, and managing vendor requirements, including contracts, policies, and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience in category management and/or buying, especially within Fashion category.
• Ability to think and act strategically and independently.
• Understanding of current market conditions and category trends.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of executive management internally and externally.
• Ideally worked with major retailers or brands; experience in a multinational company and cross-border business is preferred.
• Strong influencing skills to persuade and close deals.
• Robust project management skills.
Preferable skills or experience:
• Ability to make strategic decisions and inspire others to share and support a common goal.
• Proactive, creative thinker with a track record of achieving results.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
