Job description

Description
Dunbarton Corporation is seeking a Fabrication Manager to join our team that oversees and leads the Fabrication Department, ensuring efficient workflow, quality output, and adherence to safety and 6S standards. This position manages staffing, training, and performance of production teams including coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to meet production goals. They recommend equipment needs and improvements and act as a liaison between the department and the broader organization.
Essential Job Functions
  • Oversee the Fabrication Department, including coordinating all activities and managing the daily operations and personnel
  • Coordinate production schedules, staffing, and workflow to meet quality and delivery goals
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to align operations and resolve issues
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning in partnership with team leaders
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective actions
  • Recommend and coordinate equipment maintenance, upgrades, and replacements
  • Monitor production metrics, quality control, and ERP data accuracy to minimize waste and defects
  • Inspect and monitor raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications
  • Document findings, identify non-conformances, and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate production records, reports, and personnel documentation
  • Monitor and analyze production and quality data to identify issues, take corrective action, and ensure materials and finished goods meet customer specifications
  • Oversee inventory and cost control programs to ensure efficient resource use
  • Act as liaison between department staff and leadership, ensuring alignment with Dunbarton goals
  • Lead and enforce safety, LEAN, 6S, housekeeping, and PPE compliance; oversee LOTO procedures.
  • Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including nights and weekends
  • Performs other work as directed and required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the metal fabrication process and production methods
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, 6S, LOTO, and environmental compliance
  • Knowledge of quality control systems and defect prevention
  • Skill in use of computer hardware and software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
  • Skill in interpreting blueprints, work orders, and technical documentation
  • Skill in data analysis and reporting for production and quality metrics
  • Skill in planning and scheduling production operations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask on several projects
  • Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns

Requirements
Required
  • Four (4) years of directly related experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Four (4) years of experience directly supervising a group of employees
  • Two (2) years of experience operating a high-level ERP system in a manufacturing environment

Preferred
  • Four (4) year degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in a directly related subject
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a manufacturing manager
  • LEAN, 6S, Kaizen and Six Sigma training
