Job Description

Brown Advisory is seeking a highly motivated, intelligent, and experienced individual to serve as an Operational Due Diligence (ODD) Analyst. This position requires an intrinsically motivated individual with a true passion to learn and the capability to solve complex problems, often under deadlines.

The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct operational due diligence on hedge, private equity, real estate and long only investment managers

  • Assist in evaluating external investments focusing on risks associated with fund operations

  • Utilize AI tools and data analysis techniques to improve research efficiency, document analysis, monitoring workflows, and reporting capabilities

  • Communicate directly with fund managers and service providers to gather and assess due diligence information

  • Review and analyze financial statements, legal agreements, compliance materials, cybersecurity policies, valuation procedures, and operational documentation

  • Participate in onsite and virtual due diligence meetings with senior investment and operational personnel

  • Prepare operational due diligence reports and investment memoranda for internal committees and stakeholders

  • Develop and enhance internal due diligence processes, data infrastructure, and workflow automation tools

  • Partner with investment, research, risk, legal, compliance, and technology teams on cross-functional initiatives

  • Monitor industry developments, operational risk trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies impacting investment managers

  • Support ad hoc analytical and strategic projects across the investment platform

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience in operational due diligence, investment operations, fund accounting, risk management, consulting, audit, or related financial services roles

  • Strong interest in investment manager operational risk analysis and alternative investments

  • Understanding of financial instruments and investment fund structures

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and technology to improve workflows, research, analysis, or reporting processes

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • CFA or CAIA preferred, not required

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Superior analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills

  • Superior written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on several assignments simultaneously

  • Willingness to travel globally, approximately 10-20%

  • Works well under pressure

  • Ability to work in an office location

Salary: $90-130K Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
