Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

A large health system in Georgia is seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) to join its Biomedical Engineering team. This role is responsible for the advanced maintenance, repair, and performance assurance of medical equipment, with a strong emphasis on Operating Room (OR), anesthesia, and critical care equipment. The BMET III will support a wide range of clinical devices while also serving as a technical subject matter expert in complex modalities, particularly within surgical environments. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and corrective repairs to ensure equipment reliability, patient safety, and compliance with Environment of Care standards. This role requires the ability to work independently while also partnering closely with clinical staff, anesthesia teams, and surgical leadership to support critical equipment uptime and workflow efficiency. The BMET III will also assist with equipment evaluations, device integration, and mentoring junior technicians. Equipment supported may include anesthesia machines, ventilators, surgical video systems, patient monitoring systems, infusion devices, defibrillators, and other life-support and perioperative equipment.
Compensation:
$70,000 to $88,000 per year annual salary.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· 3+ years of FOCUSED experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician in one specific specialist field:
○ Anesthesia/OR, Respiratory, Sterilization, NICU/Nursery, and Laboratory
· Experience performing preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting on non-imaging medical equipment
· Strong reliability, integrity, and attention to detail
· Ability to accurately document PM activities
· Hands-on experience supporting OR and/or anesthesia equipment (highly preferred for this role focus)

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Associate's degree in:
o Electronics engineering
o Biomedical Equipment Technology
· Experience working GE Ventilators
· CBET certification, AAMI/ACI certification, CRES certification
