Job description

Water's Edge is seeking a motivated, passionate Catering Sales Manager to join our team. You will lead the way in delivering exceptional events through dynamic client relationships, innovative sales strategies, and a commitment to outstanding hospitality experiences. The Catering Sales Manager will strive to achieve or exceed sales goals.

Primary Tasks:

  • Develop new and grow existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Attend and represent the resort at Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau events and industry meetings.
  • Participate and be involved in the community and professional organizations.
  • Understand the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc. and how to sell against them.
  • Qualify and answer leads from all lead generating platforms within 24 hours.
  • Ensure business booked is within resort parameters. Close the best opportunities for the property based on market conditions and the resort's needs.
  • Manage and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients.
  • Actively up-sell each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key international and external stakeholders.
  • Understand and actively utilize company marketing initiatives/incentives to close business.
  • Promote accountability to drive superior business results. Includes successful execution of Sales strategies and business processes.
  • Track, follow up and maintain accurate records for all events.
  • Facilitate the booking of overnight rooms and exercise yield management for room blocks.
  • Plan and coordinate details of booked events.
  • Assist with the event operations and coordination as needed
  • Prepare Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) utilizing Maestro software.
  • Attend weekly BEO meetings and communicate clearly with the Banquet Team.
  • Track, follow up and maintain accurate records for all events.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors.
  • Upsell additional services when appropriate.
  • Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing and evaluating the issues and determining the best solution.
  • Ensure high quality communications and assist others to understand the guests needs, providing direction and guidance.
  • Build good rapport with customers and other hotel departments.
  • Exercise empowerment where necessary to facilitate decision making in relation to department and company goals.
  • Dress in a manner which is conductive to a business environment whereby first impressions reflect on the resort image.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must have at least three (3) years of relevant Group Sales experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to negotiate, sell and value engage customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
  • Strong presentation skills to represent the resort professionally and successfully.
  • Have fully functional computer skills including experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
  • Well organized with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Team player with clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral form.
  • Proficient with Maestro software including Sales & Marketing and Front desk.
