Job description

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Press Set Up Operator will be responsible for the set up and operation of an automatic press for small part production. The Operator must focus on quality as well as productivity.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Examine completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws

· Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers

· Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes.

· Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data

· Perform shop math

· Perform frequent heavy lifting

· Direct the work of others as needed

· Select work from SAP production schedule and perform confirmation transactions

· Retrieve own stock and dies if necessary

Basic Qualifications:

· High School Diploma/GED

· Willing and able to become fork truck licensed

· Experience using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers to measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications

· Able to interpret shop blueprints/written specs

· Able to interpret MOSs & BOMs

Desired Characteristic:

· Precision Machining Technology / equivalent degree preferred or a minimum of 3 years equivalent work experience in metal removal machine set-ups in the last 5 years preferred *Course of work experience must be within the last 5 years. **Course of program must be of a non-high school level.

· Good safety, attendance and performance record

· Has high mechanical aptitude

· Work with minimum supervision

· Communicate effectively

· Work well with others

· Analytical troubleshooting ability

· High degree of safety knowledge in the area

* 8 Hour Shifts - 2:30pm-10:30pm

* 120 Hours Vacation and 40 hours Sick/Personal Time available after 90-day probation period (Prorated through the year based on start date)
