Job Description: General Helper - Fabrication


Job Overview 

The General Helper is a key support role responsible for maintaining the flow of materials throughout the Fabrication department. You are the versatile link between machine centers, ensuring that steel parts are properly prepared, sorted, and moved to the next stage of production. This role requires a high level of physical activity, attention to detail, and the ability to pivot between different tasks based on the immediate needs of the shop floor.


Key Responsibilities

  • Departmental Support: Act as a versatile resource across all areas of Fabrication, including Spot Weld, Laser, Punch, and      Press Brakes.
  • Material Preparation: Perform essential part-prep tasks such as "shaking" parts from nested sheets, peeling vinyl, and      deburring edges to ensure parts meet quality standards for the next process.
  • Machine Assistance: Assist operators with the loading and unloading of machinery and the staging of raw materials.
  • Workflow Continuity: Clear bottlenecks by moving finished parts to designated areas and ensuring work-in-progress (WIP) is      organized and labeled correctly.
  • Site Stewardship: Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient      workspace.

Qualifications and Essential Functions

  • Manual Dexterity: Skilled in the use of small hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
  • Operational Literacy: Solid basic math and counting skills; ability to follow written work instructions and maintain accurate      paperwork.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, sit, and stand repeatedly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Team Orientation: A strong work ethic and a "team-first" attitude with a willingness to assist any department as directed.
  • Shop Knowledge: Basic understanding of shop measurements and safety standards.
