Job description

An UHNW international family seeks an experienced, highly professional Domestic Couple to assume full responsibility for the management, care, and smooth running of their primary residence in Washington, D.C., with oversight of additional US properties.
The Principals reside in the US for approximately four months per year. As such, this role requires a self-directed, disciplined and exceptionally trustworthy Couple who can operate with complete autonomy in their absence, maintaining impeccable standards year-round.
This is a long-term opportunity for a service-oriented, discreet and proactive Domestic Couple who take genuine pride in estate stewardship.
Accommodation:
This is a live-in position. The Couple will reside in a private, self-contained apartment within the main residence (comparable to a luxury hotel suite), offering privacy and independence while remaining available for household duties as required.
Hours:- Full-time, with long hours when the family are in residence (max 4 months / year)
Location:- Based in Washington DC, with regular travel to other properties in NYC, Minnesota
Salary:- Competitive salary package with accommodation and benefits
Start Date:- ASAP
Interviewing:- ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
Between them, the Domestic Couple will be responsible for the following:
1. House Management & Estate Oversight
  • Full oversight of the Washington, D.C. residence
  • Acting as primary point of contact in the Principals' absence
  • Management and supervision of contractors and external vendors
  • Property inspections, preventative maintenance scheduling, and project oversight
  • Household budgeting support and expense tracking
  • Security awareness and coordination with security teams where applicable
  • Seasonal preparation of all properties
  • Coordination with staff at additional US residences

2. Housekeeping & Presentation
  • Maintaining the home to five-star hotel standards
  • Detailed cleaning and organization
  • Care of fine furnishings, artwork, antiques, and delicate surfaces
  • Laundry and wardrobe care (including high-end fabrics)
  • Floral arrangements and table settings
  • Inventory management of household supplies

3. Maintenance & Grounds
  • Light handyman duties and routine property upkeep
  • Liaising with specialist contractors for larger works
  • Oversight of landscaping teams
  • Vehicle maintenance coordination

4. Service & Hospitality
  • Formal and informal table service
  • Guest room preparation and hospitality management
  • Assisting with small events and private dinners
  • Liaising with chefs or providing light cooking as required
  • Provisioning and pantry management

5. Driving & Errands
  • Chauffeur duties for Principals and guests when in residence
  • Airport transfers
  • Running errands, sourcing items, and managing deliveries
  • Vehicle cleaning and upkeep

The ideal Couple will demonstrate:
  • Prior experience working as a Domestic Couple within a UHNW or private estate environment
  • Absolute discretion and integrity
  • Proven ability to work independently without supervision
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility in schedule, including evenings and weekends when Principals are in residence
  • Professional presentation and service mindset
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Clean driving records

One partner may naturally lead on housekeeping and service, while the other focuses on maintenance and estate management; however, both must be collaborative, hands-on and adaptable.
Personal Attributes
  • Loyal and long-term minded
  • Proactive and anticipatory
  • Calm under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with exceptionally high standards
  • Respectful of privacy and confidentiality
  • Resourceful and solutions-driven

Work Schedule
During the Principals' residence periods, flexibility is essential and hours will vary according to household needs.
During non-residence periods, the Couple will maintain structured oversight of the properties, ensuring readiness at all times.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive combined salary (DOE)
  • Private on-site accommodation
  • Health benefits (if applicable)
  • Paid time off (scheduled around residence periods)
  • Discretionary bonus based on performance
