Job description

Team Driver - Class A CDL w/Hazmat & Tanker

Status: Hourly

Department: Energy Solutions Logistics

Position Summary

Plug Power is recruiting dependable team drivers with an eye on safety and customer service to haul compressed gas and liquid hydrogen to industrial gas and cryogenic customers. The ideal candidate must possess a valid Class A CDL with 3 years of verifiable CMV experience. Hazmat and tanker endorsements will be required as a condition of employment. Candidates must meet all Department of Transportation requirements. The model candidate would exhibit a proven track record of success, teamwork spirit and positive attitude. Must be willing to drive with a partnered team driver.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive with a paired team driver to transport compressed gas and liquid hydrogen safely OTR
  • Offload liquified hydrogen into customer cryogenic tanks
  • Operate vehicle safely at all times with the highest regard to the care and well-being of any passengers
  • Complete required documentation including bill of lading, customer delivery ticket, offload checklists, vehicle inspection reports, etc.
  • Complete paid training on safe offloading including EHS, PPE, and FR procedures
  • Ensure delivery vehicle(s) are maintained in safe working conditions and in compliance with all DOT standards
  • Strictly adhere to all traffic laws and rules of the road applicable to commercial vehicles
  • Prepare merchandise for shipment
  • Represent Plug Power professionally at all times and with all interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years CMV experience required
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate a manual transmission

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Have no preventable accidents in past 5 years and a clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • Ability to periodically lift and move 50- 75 lbs. (loading/unloading hoses)
  • Must pass a background test, drug and alcohol screening and DOT physical.
  • Submit to enrollment in random drug screening program
  • Must have basic computer and email skills
  • Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Possess the highest ethical standards and a supreme commitment to quality
