Job Description

The Lift Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and inspection of ski lifts and related equipment utilized in on-mountain operations. This is a technical position that requires learning all aspects of resort and mountain operations. This position reports to the Lift Maintenance Director.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Assist in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of lifts and related equipment 
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance records 
  • Assist in lift operations including operating ski lifts; 
  • Being familiar with location of ski lifts on the mountain 
  • Know how to turn on & operate the lift controls 
  • Run lift on auxiliary or evacuation diesels 
  • Manage maintenance tools and equipment 
  • Assist in daily preventative maintenance inspections 
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers & supervisors about maintenance issues 
  • Update maintenance procedures & maintain records 
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB) & American National Standards Institute (ANSI) codes pertaining to ski lifts
  • Other duties as assigned 
Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements 

  • Must be 18 years or older 
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • Valid, current, unrestricted driver’s license required 
  • Previous mechanical experience preferred 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  

  • Ability to communicate and follow oral or written directions in English is required  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers & supervisors 
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals   
  • Ability to remain focused, organized, flexible, and detail-oriented 
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner 
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working  

Additional Information

Work environment and physical demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time  
  • Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 
  • Must be able to frequency lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
