Job description

Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and sub-acute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of a CMS Five Star Rating seeks Home Health Aides (HHAs) who will be responsible for providing assistance and services to residents of our Memory Care Unit.
JOB DUTIES
  • Provide routine nursing care based on residents' needs as stated in the general service plan developed by the Memory Care Coordinator.
  • Assist residents in Memory Care with their ADLs (activities of daily living), such as bathing, dressing, hair care, feeding, grooming, etc.; encourage self-help and independence whenever possible.
  • Assist in arranging transportation, reminding residents of appointments, and accompanying residents to appointments or programs as needed.
  • Report all resident changes in condition or unusual findings as well as incidents and accidents promptly to the Memory Care Coordinator.
  • Ensure that resident's phone calls are answered promptly and redirected accordingly.
  • Ensure that required facility records are completed and maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have an active NJ Homemaker-Home Health Aide (CHHA) or Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certification
  • Must be able to perform applicable housekeeping chores
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in dealing with residents, co- workers, families and various health professionals
  • Be adaptable to change and able to meet crisis and emergencies
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with a minimal supervision
  • Must have an understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with the aging
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to pass the facility's physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter

ABOUT THIS POSITION
This is an hourly Full-Time position based at The Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ. The shift requirement is 11:00pm-7:00am including every other weekend. The successful candidate must be able to cover assigned shifts on a regular basis, including holidays, and should be available to cover vacations/call outs of other Home Health Aides on occasion. This position is covered by the SEIU 1199 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
