Job description

As an Safety Security Associate Officer, you will play a key role in fostering that environment by maintaining the safety and security of Legacy Health property, including buildings, equipment, and other assets. In this role, you will provide courteous assistance as an informational resource and may also be assigned to observe behavioral health patients or staff a security desk as needed.

  • Monitors the safety and security of patients, employees, visitors, and physicians within the boundaries of Legacy Health.

  • Provides courteous assistance as an informational resource to customers and visitors.

  • Oversees the security of Legacy Health property, including buildings, equipment, and other physical assets.

  • Assigned to guard or observe designated areas or objects; does not perform duties such as making arrests, unloading aircraft, or restraining patients.

  • May be required to observe behavioral health patients or staff a desk position.

  • May be posted at locations where a full Safety/Security Officer is not deemed necessary by the Safety and Security Director or Vice President of Environment of Care (EOC).

  • May operate and staff Legacy Enhanced Security Screening stations, including:

    • X-ray scanners

    • Walkthrough metal detectors

    • Handheld metal detectors

    • Conducting physical searches of belongings and persons as needed


Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Education requirements for DPSST certification may be different from Legacy's education requirements for this job.

Experience:

  • Prior Corrections, Military, First Responder (law enforcement, fire services, EMS), Behavior Health/ER technician, or related Security experience preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to effectively manage a high flow queue line.
  • Ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use computer programs and write legible and grammatically correct reports.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and remain aware of current surroundings.
  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

  • Healthcare Provider BLS from the American Heart Association required within 14 days of placement.
  • DPSST (Department of Public Safety Standards and Training) unarmed professional temporary certification (PS 20) or current DPSST unarmed professional certification required within 14 days of placement.  The DPSST unarmed professional certification must be obtained within 120 days of the first day of placement in the department.
  • Successful completion of Legacy’s approved de-escalation training certification within 120 days of the first day of placement within the department and then recertification as defined by the course.
  • Current valid applicable state driver’s license, and a driving record that meets insurance carrier requirements, is preferred.

USD $20.24 - USD $28.93 /Hr.
