Position Summary:

The DSV Contract Logistics Project Director Latin America is responsible for leading the team of Project Managers in pursuit of highly successful delivery of company projects including internally devised major initiatives and new business implementations.  This position has dotted line responsibility for the LATAM project management team who reports into each country's leadership.  There are 3 major facets of the Project Director's responsibility related to projects: Project Management Execution, Team Leadership, and other department leadership duties.

 

Project Management Execution:

  • Driving the execution of DSV Quality Planning as the cornerstone of project initiation.
  • Driving adherence to department standard approach and toolsets throughout the execution of each project to ensure a high level of delivery of Scope, Budget, and Timeline, and ultimately successful launch of each project.
  • Monitoring scheduling and execution of tollgate meetings per the standard project approach and individual project plans.
  • Monitoring and driving communication plans for each project to maintain consistency and thorough status reporting internally to DSV and facing the clients.
  • Serving as first point of escalation and approval for Project Management change control, driving proper documentation and justification for changes.
  • Maintaining alignment of DSV project approach toolset standards across the assigned team of Project Managers.
  • Supporting Business Development, Solution Design, and other requesting departments with estimated project timelines and startup cost validation based on specific scope as needed.

 

Team Leadership:

  • Providing oversight and guidance to the LATAM Project Management teams.
  • Planning and tracking work content for PMs in concert with their direct line managers, managing project assignments throughout the year and forecasting bandwidth based on regular updates to current consumption and projections based on project pipeline.
  • Driving internal department CIP initiatives for NA Project Management specifically, and contributing to ideas & actions for CI initiatives for the Project Management and Training department as a whole.
  • Providing regular and frequent feedback and coaching to Project Managers individually, and conducting formal performance reviews semi-annually.
  • Managing opportunities for professional development (team and individual).

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Four-year degree is basic requirement (Industrial Engineering or Business Management preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of job related/relevant experience in a leadership role.
  • Minimum of 10 years Logistics/Supply Chain Industry experience.

 

Other:

  • Maintaining regular communication with functional counterparts (especially from A&I, Engineering, Operations, and Operations Support) on project delivery feedback and improvement opportunities.
  • Leading a bi-weekly cadence of Senior Leadership-level project status reporting for LATAM projects.
  • Acting as department leader in the absence of the Sr. Director PM&T when required.
  • Acting as delegate project tollgate approver for the Sr. Director PM&T when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management to support special projects, implementations, process improvements, etc.
  • Experience dealing with end users, vendors and clients
  • Experience in 3PL environment, specifically in project delivery

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Indirect management of department staff, assignments, and work content
  • Performance evaluations of project management staff

 

Computer Skills:  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Vizio
  • Knowledge of WMS functionality

  • English (reading, writing, verbal), Spanish highly desired
  • Interpersonal communication and language skills (e.g., listening to others, speaking to others, reading, writing).

For this position, the expected base pay range is $160,000.00 - $175,000.00 Annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
