Job description

Title: SAP FICO Consultant (Direct/In-Direct TAX)

Location: Omaha, NE (Alternate Week Travel to Omaha)

Duration: 12 Months

Required Qualifications
Experience
• 15+ years of SAP functional consulting experience with deep specialization in SAP FICO, concentrated in direct and indirect tax
• At least 3 full-lifecycle SAP implementations, including a minimum of 2 greenfield S/4HANA deployments
• Hands-on SAP tax configuration experience spanning tax codes, jurisdiction codes, withholding tax (1099/T5018), sales and use tax determination, and tax reporting
• Proven experience analyzing and migrating data workflows from platforms such as Alteryx, KNIME, or comparable ETL and data transformation tools into enterprise data lake or data warehouse environments
• Demonstrated ability to lead discovery phases, diagnose business pain points, and develop solution proposals for senior and executive audiences
• Experience on SAP ECC-to-S/4HANA migration projects, with specific knowledge of data model changes affecting FICO tax tables including ACDOCA, BSET, and WITH_ITEM
Technical Skills
• Expert-level command of SAP S/4HANA Finance (FICO) with tax specialization, encompassing the Universal Journal (ACDOCA), tax line item tables, and GL/AR/AP tax-relevant postings
• Strong working knowledge of Alteryx workflow design — including data sources, joins, filters, formulas, summarization, and output tools — sufficient to fully deconstruct and document existing tax workflows
• Hands-on experience configuring, testing, and deploying SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) for statutory compliance reporting across the US, Canada, and Mexico
• Proficiency in data modeling for enterprise data lakes and data warehouses, including dimensional modeling, data lineage tracking, and transformation rule documentation
• Familiarity with SAP CDS views, embedded analytics, and Fiori app deployment for tax and finance reporting
• Working knowledge of third-party tax engines — including Vertex and Sabrix/Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE — and their integration with SAP
• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification is preferred
• Grounding in SAP Activate methodology and Fit-to-Standard workshop facilitation
Functional & Domain Knowledge
• Comprehensive understanding of corporate tax operations, spanning direct tax (federal, state, and local income tax provisioning and compliance), indirect tax (sales/use tax and VAT), withholding tax (1099 and T5018), and multi-jurisdictional tax reporting
• Background in construction, engineering, or capital-intensive industries with complex, multi-entity organizational structures is strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of tax data flows within SAP, from transaction posting through tax determination, reporting, and filing
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and auditability requirements specific to tax compliance data
• Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between tax and finance business teams and data engineering and platform teams
